Description

The LDR PVC PIPE CUTTER is your ultimate nonmetal pipe cutter. The LDR PVC cutters feature a ratchet motion operating system which provides continuous pressure with minimal motion and effort, ensuring a clean, smooth, and even cut. There is no need to rotate the PVC cutter, preventing an uneven cut. Once the pipe is placed in the jaw and you lock around the pipe, the blade will remain where you want it and not move from the correct position. As you begin cutting through the pipe the ratchet will compound the pressure from the multiple hand squeezes onto the blade reducing the amount of pressure that you need to apply for each squeeze. The latches in the mechanism are spaced that you do not have to extenuously stretch your hand when you flex the handle to give multiple squeezes. The result of the ratchet motion and sharp blade will be an accurate, even, square cut with no burrs. The smooth, straight burr free cut will ensure that all sides of the pipe will have an even, clean, and adequate glue overlap around the whole circumference of the pipe. This will ensure that the fitting can be glued properly preventing the fitting from blowing off once it is glued in place. This versatile ratchet action pipe cutter cuts through PVC pipe as well as, CPVC, PEX, polybutylene, polyethylene, rubber hose, vinyl, synthetic tubing and most non-metallic tubing. It is suitable for pluming piping, auto piping, tubing, garden hoses as well as most nonmetallic hoses and pipes. The LDR PVC pipe and hose cutter is constructed with a solid Aluminum frame, strong metal pivots, and a steel blade, providing many years of reliable use. The Easy-turn thumb latch allows for reliable safe storage. Make it yours today! Specifications: Suitable for ½ inch -1 inch pipes and tubing.

Product is all metal, decent grip. Feels pretty good in your hand.It cut through the half inch PVC I had extremely well, but really struggled with the 1". I had to either continuously open and shut the cutter, or rotate the blade several times while clamped down to saw through the pipe until it finally pierced the plastic. After that, it went through it cleanly. The one I bought is rated up to 1.5", bit I can't imagine doing a bunch of cuts on pipe that diameter considering the trouble I had with the 1".4-5 cuts at 1" will be fine, but more than that would take all day and probably wear out the blade. However, it cut the half inch quickly and cleanly. It would probably do well with 3/4 also. For what it's worth, I did around 15-20 cuts, and I'd guess the blade would need sharpening or replacement at around 40-50 cuts, especially with some 1" pipe cuts in there. For me, this was a one time deal, so long term durability isn't a factor. I can't complain for the price I paid. I am docking one star for the difficulty in cutting 1" PVC on a tool rated for 1.5".Good PVC cutter. I used this to remove a section of PVC pipe that was pierced from a stake used to secure a "bouncy house" in the backyard.Initial cuts were solid and easy. I had to remove incremental amounts of the pipe to make room for the telescoping coupler used to fix the hole. During these incremental cuts, I found that the PVC was flexing when pressure was applied instead of cutting. Not sure if this is due to the amount being cut being so small (more of a precision cut; small amount) or if this blade is not as sharp as it should be. Perhaps a combination of both. But I do know the initial two cuts into the breached PVC pipe were EASY. A couple of squeezes and the PVC pipe was cut. I am suspicious that my follow up cuts were too small (1/4 to 1/2 inch trims) so all the PVC pipe could do is flex until I was able to get a hold of the PVC better to cut it.All in all, a very good cutter for the price point. I would purchase this again if need be.I was very disappointed to discover that this 1.5" PVC cutter doesn't cut 1.5" PVC pipe. I don't expect miracles from inexpensive tools, but I did expect to be able to just try and cut my old PVC pipe for replacement with a new 1.5" PVC section. The tool would simply not reach around and lock on the pipe for cutting. I thought maybe my old 1.5" pipe was extra thick and a little wider. However, my new 1.5" PVC pipe experience was the same. To make it wrap around the pipe, I had to loosen the cutter so much that the ratchet detached, and I couldn't cut anything. I'll keep it; it looks like it'll be fine for an occasional small hose or line cut, but when the tool's stamped with a 1 5/8" size, I expect it to handle 1.5" pipe. Back to my crosscut saw for cutting pipes.UPDATE: I've discovered that the cutter will fit and cut 1 1/2" PVC if the walls of the pipe are thin. I had been trying to cut heavy duty PVC, which has a greater total diameter for more strength. I had to cut some light gauge 1 1/2" PVC pipe yesterday, and it worked fine.I bought these as a back up on a large commercial project based on the price, but I'm not impressed at all. In this case, you really do get what you pay for, which is cheap.I tried cutting class 200 - 3/4 inch pipe, but it will break the pipe before it will cut it. Even trying to twist the pipe to start a cut to slice through didn't help much, the blade just isn't that sharp. I've also tried to cut schedule 40 - 1 inch pipe, but it's just not worth the time and strength to squeeze and twist enough to get the cut started.Even on a homeowner level, it's just not worth it if you are trying to do a repair in limited space in the dirt, you'd have to dig a huge hole around the repair to gentle try and rotate and cut the pipe that you'd probably do more damage. At 3-4 times the price for a nice pair, spend the money, this isn't worth the hassle or frustration.I have used it when I replaced several underground sprinkler valves in my yard. I used it to cut 1-inch and 3/4-inch schedule 40 PVC pipes. To make the cut straight, the pipe end has to be at least a quarter inch from the blade, half inch or more is better. After making about 50 cuts (mostly 1-inch pipes), the cutter was still reasonably sharp. For occasional use like in my case, this is a great tool. This PVC pipe cutter worked great. I used it for 1" and 3/4" PVC water pipe and it sliced through them with no problems. Very sharp and thin blade. Handle incorporates a ratcheting mechanism which is great for leverage and working in tight spaces. Would have given it five stars if the blade hadn't chipped with the first use. But for the price you can't beat it.I have only used it about 6 times, but so far this is a really great, cheap little tool to have around. I used to cut my pvc pipe with a hacksaw and my softer 3/4" flexible tubing with a razor blade. This cuts through 1" and 3/4" pvc and flexible tubing like butter, plus I get a very straight, clean cut without any burrs which helps prevent leaks. Should have bought one a lot sooner (before I plumbed my aquarium both a first time and a second. At least I'll be prepared when I decide to take on round three). The cutter seems well made and sturdy. I haven't used it yet. Amazon sent 2, I would like to see my original order. But for the price, it's not worth postage to send one back.Great tool. Arrived on time, simple to use and does the job well.
