For me this is the absolute best super heavy duty hardened metal bolt cutter for my annual cutting of the lock. Seems almost every winter a lock gets jammed up after an ice storm. This year I put the wrong key in working after dark and it would not come out. I am so old now I no longer have the strength to cut hardened steel locks with my unbranded, red 2 foot bolt cutters bought years ago at a local hardware store. On this Master lock they were hard enough to etch a small indentation in the lock but I no longer have the strength in my arms to push the handles together to finish the cut. All I could do was cut part of the key off. No hardware store I could find carried very large size bolt cutters to cut hardened steel with the amount of multiplied force I need. On Amazon there were 2 brands I found wanting $200 or more then there was this China brand for $100. I found the company's web site and they are a tool company making a full and very diversified line of many many types of tools. They specifically describe this 42 inch, 6.61 pound cutter as a lock cutter. I found one seller fulfilled by Amazon so I could get a no questions asked return/refund if it did not work. It worked perfect. It is so heavy I had to first open the cutting blades wide, position the cutting head with the lock between the blades, prop one handle against my bent legs then with both hands and all my strength, pull down on the other handle. Took 2 cuts to actually be able to get the lock to fall out of the gate latch. The cutting did not chip the cutting blades. It just polished them. So after this year's annual cutting of the lock went so well, I will keep these bolt cutters well covered so they don't get dusty or tarnished and be ready for next year's annual cutting of the lock knowing I have cutters that multiply my weakened strength enough to cut hardened steel.
